The Honda Insight is a compact hybrid sedan similar to the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. It debuted last year and goes fundamentally unchanged for 2020.
Every Insight comes with a 1.5-liter engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and dual motors. Together, they produce 151.5 horsepower. Honda includes Econ, Sport, and EV modes for different types of driving. Fuel-economy ratings for the LX and EX trims are the same as last year: 55 mpg city, 49 highway, and 52 combined. The Touring trim returns 51, 45, and 48.
You can get the Insight in three trims: LX, EX, and Touring. The LX trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED taillights, keyless start, a 6-speaker audio system, and a 5-inch LCD. The EX trim comes with an 8-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, keyless access, remote engine start, an 8-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. Finally, the Touring trim comes with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, WiFi hotspot capability, a 10-speaker audio system, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, navigation, and LED fog lights.
Honda Sensing, the company's safety system, comes standard on every Insight. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, traffic-sign recognition, and road-departure mitigation. EX and Touring trims come with LaneWatch, which includes a camera feed of the car’s right side that makes parking and changing lanes easier. The Touring trim comes with rain-sensing wipers. Last year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the Insight with a Top Safety Pick+ award.
Honda's Insight continues to be one of the most efficient ways to carry five people.

What owners say
"Overall, owners are very pleased with the 2020 Honda Insight for its comfort, gas mileage, and technology. What stood out most to drivers was the impressive fuel economy, spacious interior, and the ease of using features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, some expressed disappointment due to the lack of a hatchback option and higher prices for used models."
I bought a ‘21 Touring. I love the comfort and smooth ride. The transition from electric to gas is seamless. Still learning to drive it for mileage but I’m over 40mpg now.
March 2, 2021Honda Insight EX was everything I thought it would be and more! I just need to read the owners manual carefully to learn all of the features that are available.:-)
September 5, 2023Great value. Excellent technology. Similar to Volt but more comfortable interior for taller drivers. Feels like a Lexus hybrid. HondaLink is similar to Onstar but with more features and less cost

February 16, 2023Great car!! Loved almost everything about it (at the EX trim level) and its a great price, but I decided to go with a Toyota Prius, because it has a hatchback and an AWD option and a longer history with hybrid tech. I have to wait for the 2021 models though, because unlike the Insight, the Prius does not yet support Android auto. Some might find the button shifting on the Insight odd, but it didnt bother me. On the other hand, one thing I really loved about it was the road sign assist. It brought speed limit signs up next to my speedometer, which was really cool. If it had a hatchback, I would probably own it already tbh.
August 2, 2020The Honda Insight is a great car. The prices for used ones right now are ridiculous. No one should buy one until the prices come down.
September 21, 2022Amazing gas mileage. The infotainment and android auto/apple carplay works great. The speakers work excellent. Interior is decent for mid level trim. Best part is its a hybrid but doesnt look like one! Also very spacious. Trunk has lots of room. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a hybrid but doesnt like the typical odd design like the Prius, Ioniq, or any other big name hybrid cars.
