A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available, but we prefer the slick-shifting six-speed stick. The GT3s telepathic steering and Olympic-level handling make both track days and back-road joyrides a drivers delight. Its also capable of long-distance drives and daily commuting, and the cabin has enough convenience features and connectivity tech. All this makes the 911 GT3 a dual-purpose car that a serious enthusiast driver could conceivably justify driving every day, as well as at weekend track days. In the tail of the 911 GT3 is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that makes 502 horsepower. The GT3's engine spins to a stratospheric 9000 rpm and wails hypnotically. At our test track, the GT3 automatic managed a 2.7-second 60-mph time while the six-speed manual test vehicle snapped off a 3.3-second run to 60 mph. A GT3 Touring that we recently put through its paces hit 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The GT3's interior is similar to the rest of the 911 lineup, with a clean design and simple layout that pays homage to past iterations of Porsche's quintessential sports car. The GT3's gauge cluster still features a prominent analog tachometer flanked by digital displays, but it gets a specific GT mode that puts all important information directly on the displays surrounding the central tach.
