Dealer's description
There are plenty of Cobra replicas out there, but we doubt you'll find one with as interesting a story as this one. It also happens to be very well built and an absolute blast to drive. This car was built in the early 1990s for Peter Wolf -- not the J. Geils frontman, but rather an acclaimed musician/producer -- who has helped to produce big hits with the likes of the Commodores (Nightshift), Starship (We build this city) and Heart (These dreams). Wolf was also a passionate race car driver who had an appreciation for Carroll Shelby's athletic Cobra. Dressed up in a red and yellow racing livery, this Cobra was built by Steve Curle, a top mechanic who had previously worked with Emerson Fittipaldi and who was a stickler for quality as can be seen in the fit and finish of this car. A set of Halibrand center-lock spinner wheels add the perfect streetable race car vibe to this stunning Cobra. The interior is likewise done to a high standard, with real leather seating, a wood-rimmed Cobra steering wheel and an engine-turned instrument panel boasting a set of full gauges. Under the hood is a seriously built 351-based Ford engine that was built by race engine maestro Clay Smith. The 351 was enlarged to 420 cubic inches, while highlights of this powerhouse include titanium connecting rods, a Weiand intake, a Holley carb and a set of headers. Claimed output on a dyno measured a staggering 603 horsepower. A five-speed manual gearbox sends the power to the limited-slip rear end. Weighing about the same as a 289 V8 yet making more power than the much heavier 427 V8, this Cobra has an incredible power-to-weight ratio, resulting in absolutely blistering acceleration. Yes, you wanted to be pointed straight at corner exit before you lay into the throttle! As such, this car's incredible performance is best commanded by someone skilled in high-performance driving. The best way to describe this amusement park ride on wheels is to say its like driving a very powerful go-kart. Along with its ripping acceleration and nimble handling is a throaty exhaust that provides the right soundtrack. Providing most (if not all) of the enjoyment of piloting a real Shelby Cobra at a fraction of the price, this car defines bang for the buck like few others. Please call Carroll Street Auto at (603) 627-5595 for further information or to schedule time to view this amazing Cobra. Financing is offered through our approved lender, trades are welcome and enclosed shipping can be arranged.
