Dealer's description
Back in 1964 when the Beatles were tearing up the Billboard charts, Pontiac introduced what is widely acknowledged as the first muscle car, a mid-sized car with a full-size car's big engine. The GTO had it all -- head-turning style, thrilling performance and affordability. Here we have one of those debut-year Goats, in convertible form with Tri-Power and a 4-speed, no less. This car is not a show car but rather a nice driver that you can be proud of whether taking a weekend trip or hitting the local Cars and Coffee. Finished in Yorktown Blue complemented with a Parchment convertible top, this Goat's body and underside are solid and the various chrome and stainless-steel trim look nice as well. The original wheel covers wearing a set of redline Firestones complete the period-correct look and massive curbside appeal. The Parchment interior is likewise in good condition while option highlights include power steering and the center console. A set of auxiliary gauges under the dash as well as a console-mounted intake manifold vacuum gauge keep tabs on the engine room. Under the hood is an NOM 389 with Tri-power carburetion that sends the power to the rear wheels via a slick-shifting 4-speed manual and a Safe-T-Track rear end. Braking is handled by manual drums. Out on the road, the car drives fantastic. It pulls strong through the gears and sounds great while doing so. Handling and braking are confident as well. Although not a matching-numbers car, this GTO checks all the fun-to-drive boxes with its drop-top body style, Tri-power carbs, and 4-speed stick while costing about half of what a first-year Goat convertible with factory-issued Trips would be.
