Dealer's description
1988 Ford Bronco II For Sale This 1988 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer comes from the last stretch of Ford's original compact SUV, finished in the two-tone green over beige that has become the signature look of the trim, with a beige interior to match. The odometer shows 92,472 miles and the title reads actual mileage, which is low for a Bronco II at this point in their life. The 1988 model year is also the last before the 1989 refresh, which brought revised front sheet metal and a new instrument panel shared with the updated Ranger, so this truck wears the original design the Bronco II launched with.Power comes from Ford's fuel-injected 2.9L Cologne V6, rated at 140 horsepower when new, paired with the four-speed automatic overdrive. Out back is a 3.73 axle ratio, which suits the 2.9's torque curve and the short-wheelbase chassis better than a taller gear would, keeping the truck responsive around town while still letting overdrive handle highway speeds. Braking is by front discs and rear drums.Underneath is the Twin-Traction Beam independent front suspension Ford used on four-wheel-drive Bronco IIs and Rangers, an arrangement enthusiasts still favor for the way it handles articulation and lift work. The 94-inch wheelbase and short overhangs give the truck strong breakover clearance on tight trails, and because the running gear is shared with the Ranger, mechanical parts support remains better than it is for most vehicles of this age. Inside, the Eddie Bauer package sat at the top of the Bronco II range, with color-keyed appointments carried through the cabin in the beige shown here. That Eddie Bauer badge marks one of the earliest chapters of Ford's partnership with the outdoor outfitter, a tie-up that would go on to appear on Explorers, Expeditions, and F-Series trucks for the next two decades. The Bronco II ran from 1984 through 1990 and was replaced by the four-door Explorer, making it the direct ancestor of what became the best-selling SUV in America. This one is aimed at a buyer who wants a period-correct compact 4x4 wearing the trim package that defined the model.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified, and luxury vehicles.
