Rather than being transformed into a modern restomod, this Chevelle retains the appearance, character, and presentation that made Chevrolet's midsize cars so popular during the muscle-car era. According to the accompanying documentation, this Chevelle was built at Chevrolet's Fremont, California assembly plant. The cowl-tag information identifies it as a 1966 Malibu Custom two-door, originally finished in Ermine White with a black vinyl bench-seat interior. That documentation is included with the car along with restoration photographs, show history, and additional supporting material. Under the hood is the car's original 283 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The engine compartment has been restored with a strong emphasis on factory appearance, including the Chevrolet-orange engine finish, black factory-style air-cleaner assembly, original-type accessory arrangement, proper hoses and lines, and a clean white-painted engine bay. Factory-style air conditioning is also present, making this Chevelle more comfortable for warm-weather cruising. The exterior presentation is understated and exceptionally period correct. Ermine White paint is complemented by polished stainless trim, bright chrome bumpers, quad headlights, Chevelle grille badging, Malibu script, and V8 fender emblems. White-painted steel wheels wear Chevrolet dog-dish hubcaps and redline bias-ply tires, giving the car the exact stance and appearance expected from a carefully restored mid-1960s Chevrolet. Inside, the black interior remains faithful to its original configuration. A wide black vinyl front bench seat is matched by a rear bench, black door panels, carpeting, and dashboard. The original-style steering wheel, column-mounted automatic shifter, horizontal 120-mph speedometer, analog clock, factory radio, and original-style climate controls preserve the authentic 1966 driving experience. The odometer currently shows 10,767 miles. The trunk is neatly finished in black carpeting and houses a matching full-size redline spare with jack hardware. Included documentation contains restoration photographs, identification-tag information, previous show photographs, newspaper clippings, and award records. One of the most significant pieces of this Chevelle's history is its Antique Automobile Club of America recognition. The grille proudly displays an AACA National First Prize Senior award badge from 2008, and accompanying documentation further supports its show history. That level of recognition speaks to the quality and authenticity of the restoration. This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is an excellent choice for the collector who values originality, documentation, and period-correct presentation. With its original 283 V8, automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, Ermine White exterior, black bench-seat interior, redline tires, extensive records, and AACA award history, it represents a carefully preserved example of one of Chevrolet's most recognizable midsize classics.
