This is a well-proven combination and a sensible one for a car of this weight: the 383's added stroke gives it low-end torque that a 350 has to work for, the TH350 keeps the driveline compact and serviceable, and the 3.54 ratio favors acceleration and around-town driving over long-legged highway cruising. Braking has been updated with front discs, with drums retained at the rear.The car sits 3 inches lower on the factory frame, which keeps the original chassis intact while getting the body down where a Merc is supposed to sit. The custom work is concentrated in the details rather than the profile. The door handles are shaved and the doors open via electric poppers, and the glass was installed from the inside so the body could be left free of exterior reveal moldings.
