Dealer's description

A beautifully restored example of postwar American luxury, this 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is presented in its original and elegant combination of Code 13- Gloss Green over Trim Code 747- Green leather interior. Representing one of the most desirable body styles of the era, this Series 62 Convertible captures Cadillac's leadership in style, innovation, and prestige during the early 1950s. By 1953, Cadillac had firmly established itself as "The Standard of the World," setting benchmarks in engineering and luxury that competitors aspired to match. The Series 62 remained the cornerstone of Cadillac's lineup, offering cutting-edge features, refined V8 performance, and distinctive styling highlighted by graceful proportions and modest tailfins that would soon define the decade. Power came from Cadillac's proven 331ci overhead-valve V8 engine, paired with the smooth Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, delivering effortless performance befitting its flagship reputation. Convertible production for 1953 remained relatively limited compared to sedan counterparts, making surviving examples particularly sought after today. These open-top Cadillacs represented the pinnacle of luxury motoring, combining advanced engineering with the glamour and freedom of top-down driving. This example is well-equipped with a host of desirable factory options, including power windows and a power-operated convertible top, power steering, and power-assisted brakes, features that enhanced both convenience and drivability. Additionally, it is fitted with Accessory Group 7, which included an engine oil filter, windshield washer system, vanity mirror, fog lamps, and an automatic headlight dimmer, further elevating its level of sophistication for the time. Today, the car presents with tasteful upgrades including chrome wire wheels in place of the original chrome wheel discs, wrapped in BF Goodrich Silvertown wide whitewall radial tires that provide improved road manners while maintaining a classic period-correct appearance. Originally delivered through Cadillac's Boston sales office to a dealership in Roxbury, Massachusetts, this car later migrated to the dry climate of Arizona by 1996 before returning to the East Coast in 2006. There, it underwent a comprehensive multi-year restoration by Phoenix Rods & Customs of Hackettstown, New Jersey. This extensive work included a complete engine overhaul by A&A Engine Dynamics, fresh repaint in its correct color, a new convertible top, fully retrimmed leather interior, refinished chrome exterior components, and the rebuilding of major mechanical systems. Since completion, the car has been carefully enjoyed and consistently maintained, with a documented history of service and restoration records spanning from 2006 through 2024. Accompanying the vehicle are a reproduction owner's manual, a copy of the original Cadillac factory order sheet, transmission operation guide, spare sets of keys, and a storage car cover, further supporting its well-documented provenance. Elegant, rare, and restored to a high standard, this 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible represents a superb opportunity to acquire a hallmark of American luxury from one of Cadillac's most celebrated eras.
