Dealer's description

1961 Chevrolet Impala SS Bubble top. New LS1 w/ Manual transmission. I have NO documents on the history or proof of it being an SS. Washington state car from Bellingham. I purchased this Impala SS 11 years ago from Lost and Found Classic cars. I attached a copy of the original add description from when I got it in 2015. The car had sat inside a shop for 27 years prior to Lost and Found purchasing the car, so for the last 38 plus years it has been kept inside. This car was originally sold new in fawn beige metallic and sometime in the 1980's it received one UGLY black repaint and now 40 years later it has some really cool black patina. Rock solid original trunk, firewall and floors and with the exception of a few bubbles down low and the left front inner rocker is rotten, fairly easy fix. Powertrain is a newly rebuilt from top to bottom LS-1 with a Truck Norris cam, forged JE Pistons, FAST 92MM intake. I have a dyno sheet and video from Nooksack Speed Shop producing a reliable 325 rear wheel HP right at about the same rear wheel HP as the 1961 409 SS option. This car moves out nicely. The transmission is the legendary M-20 Muncie 4 speed equipped with a soft new hydraulic clutch. Other upgrades include Wilwood disk brakes w/ matching master cylinder that work awesome, drop spindles, newly rebuilt frontend with new shocks, springs, tie rod ends, complete new cooling system with an alloy radiator, rebuilt rearend with new 3:55 gears and a Dakota Digital RTX series speedo Instrument System, rebuilt tilt column and a new 600 series power steering system and long gone is the old junky ram style steering, also equipped with a new redhead steering box. Call today if your interested in a LS powered 4 speed black bubble top, this is one cool ride!! I am busy so leave a message and I will get with ya ASAP. We ship can anywhere so if you need it moved we can assist. Jason 360-755-9961 Determining if a 1961 Chevrolet Impala is a factory-born Super Sport (SS) is very tricky. Because 1961 was the very first introductory year for the SS package (originally called Regular Production Option / RPO 240), you cannot look at the VIN or the Cowl/Trim tag to prove it.
