Dealer's description

For many Corvette fans, the so-called mid-year (1963-1967) Corvettes are the most desirable. That's not a surprise given their timeless head-turning styling, large selection of awesome V8 engines and high fun to drive factor. Here we have a 1964 Corvette coupe that boasts a few key (and very expensive) options that vaulted the Corvette to world-class performance status, not to mention massive desirability among collectors. With just under 78,000 original, well-kept miles, this Corvette is impressive top to bottom, inside and out. The body is arrow-straight with its gleaming paint and brilliant chrome and stainless-steel trim. Note that the car did receive a high-quality color-change respray in white, while the original color was Tuxedo Black. The original Kelsey-Hayes knock-off wheels wearing BF Goodrich Silvertown tires add the perfect punctuation marks to this car's massive curb appeal. From the headliner down to the carpet, the interior is in good condition apart from a driver's seat tear. Option highlights on this loaded example include the fuel-injected version of the 327 (L84) as well as the very rare and so-called Big Brake (J56) option that provided impressive stopping power via its finned drums, sintered metallic linings, built-in cooling fans and dual master cylinder. This is one of just 29 examples optioned with that high-performance brake package. This set-up was ideal for those who wanted to race their new Corvette, as that fuel-injected 327 cranked out an incredible 375 hp, providing pin-you-to-the-seat performance along with more athletic handling than a big block car, thanks to less weight sitting on the front end. The big brakes helped to quickly reel in the speed when approaching the turns. At $538 and $629.50 respectively, the Fuelie engine and the Big Brake option were seriously big ticket items on a car with a base price of around $4,200. Other options on this car include the transistorized ignition, F40 special handling package, AM/FM radio, tinted glass, close ratio Muncie 4-speed, 4:11 Positraction axle and off road exhaust. As you'd rightly assume, driving this car is simply a blast thanks to its thrilling performance accompanied by a great soundtrack. Extensive documentation (including the original bill of sale and owner history) accompanies the Corvette.
