Dealer's description

1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme For SaleThis 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is a two-door Colonnade coupe finished in red over a black interior, and it carries the spec that makes these cars worth seeking out: a factory 455 V8. The trim tag confirms a Lansing-built Cutlass Supreme, and the VIN's engine code verifies the car left the factory with the 455 rather than picking one up later in life. Since 1976 was the final model year for Oldsmobile's big 455, a Cutlass Supreme that came with it from the start is a notable way to close out that engine's run.Power comes from the 455-cubic-inch Rocket V8 backed by a TH400 automatic one of GM's stoutest period transmissions and a natural match for the big Olds mill. By 1976 the 455 was a low-compression, emissions-era engine that made modest rated horsepower compared to its early-decade peak, but it still delivers the easy, torque-rich character the Oldsmobile big-block has always been known for. The TH400 behind it is built to handle that torque and is about as durable as automatics of the era get.Braking is handled by front disc brakes and rear drums, and the cabin is trimmed in black, in keeping with the understated personal-luxury character these Supremes were built around. The 1975 facelift brought the stacked rectangular headlights that define the front end on these later Colonnade cars, and this one carries that look.Context matters here: the Cutlass was climbing to become one of the best-selling cars in America during these years, with the Supreme coupe as its single most popular configuration. Most of those cars left with a 350 or the small 260. A factory 455 example, in the last year the engine was offered, is a far less common and more sought-after combination.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified, and luxury vehicles.
