Dealer's description
HISTORY OF THE TRIUMPH TR6: Regarded by many as the most appealing of the T-series Triumphs, the TR6 debuted for the 1969 model year. Mechanically evolved from the one-year-only TR5/TR250, the TR6 shared its predecessor's chassis and drivetrain while receiving refinements such as suspension improvements and wider 15" wheels, giving the car a leaner, lower stance and more composed handling. Power came from a 2.5-liter straight-six equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors in U.S. specification, producing just over 100 horsepower. A traditional wood dashboard, standard front disc brakes, and options including Overdrive, chrome wire wheels, and a removable hardtop made the TR6 highly customizable. A delight to drive both then and now, the TR6 consistently ranks high on lists of iconic British sports cars. Its unmistakable styling and lively character continue to appeal to discerning drivers and collectors alike. THE MOTORCAR OFFERED: IT'S ALIVE! is proud to represent this 1975 Triumph TR6, presented in its factory-correct finish of Maple Brown over a Beige interior. Complimenting this TR's striking appearance is a Chocolate Brown canvas convertible top with zip-out rear window, while exquisite Burl Walnut wood accents are featured throughout the cabin. Originally completed at the Coventry factory in April 1975, much of the car's early history remains unknown. However, service and parts records dating back to 2002 document the car's time in Tennessee (20022012) and later in New Jersey (20172023). The Maple Brown respray, while not listed in the service history, likely occurred in the 1990s and still presents with a deep, glossy finish. The service history reveals over two decades of meticulous care and thoughtful upgrades. Parts invoices from Moss Motors and British Parts Northwest document numerous maintenance items including brake and clutch hydraulics, along with several tasteful enhancements. These include a heavy-duty accelerator shaft bushing kit, spin-on oil filter conversion, PerTronix electronic ignition, RetroSound Long Beach AM/FM radio with Sirius XM capability, a two-piece gearbox cover, and leather seat covers in Honey Tan with matching carpet. The current owner acquired the TR6 in early 2024 and has continued the tradition of dedicated care and improvement. Recent updates under current ownership include a two-piece polyethylene gearbox cover, new 205/70R15 Redline tires from Diamond Back, an insulated hood pad, and a fresh Dark Burl Walnut dashboard with matching door tops. In August 2024, the car was brought to IT'S ALIVE! for installation of a rebuilt J-type overdrive gearbox, a new windscreen and seals, and a restored windscreen frame. Later that fall, our expert technicians installed a triple SU carburetor conversion from GOOD PARTS-a notable performance upgrade that also gives the engine bay a period-correct visual appeal. Today, this TR6 both performs and presents better than new. The Maple Brown finish-a color unique to 1974 and 1975 TR6s-retains excellent depth and luster, with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. A red pinstripe accentuates the body lines and complements the Diamond Back Redline tires. Inside, the Burl Walnut finishes lend an air of refinement, while the Honey Tan leather interior and matching carpet enhance both comfort and aesthetics. A wood-rimmed, cross-drilled steering wheel adds a sporting touch and connects the driver to the road, and the original factory steering wheel is included with the sale. Additional touches include Talbot-style racing mirrors on both sides, a polished stainless-steel exhaust, Triumph-logoed floor mats and center console, a chrome luggage rack, and twin LUCAS fog lamps. The original convertible top boot-dated February 1975-is also included. The five-digit odometer reads just over 62,000 miles, which, while undocumented, is believed to be original. IT'S ALIVE! is proud to offer this exceptionally well-sorted, tastefully upgraded TR6-an example that drives and presents as few others do.
