Designed in collaboration with the famous fashion designer this model features a distinctive navy blue and white nautical color scheme a simulated convertible carriage roof and a plush interior equipped with premium luxury amenities including an analog Cartier clock power windows/locks/seats air conditioning and an 8-track tape player. The Bill Blass Edition was part of Lincolns Designer Series lineup alongside Cartier Givenchy and Emilio Pucci models. These special editions paired fashion-designer branding with unique paint schemes interiors and trim packages. The Bill Blass' exterior features a bold two-tone White and Midnight Blue paint scheme accented by elegant Gold pinstripes and a designer logo. It features a simulated convertible carriage roof hidden headlights turbine-style wheels and the iconic "Continental" spare tire hump on the trunk lid. The cabin pampers occupants with thickly padded blue or white leather seats with color-coordinated accents Bill Blass designer insignia woodgrain trim and deep-pile carpeting. Under the massive hood lies Ford's 400 cubic inch V8 engine producing roughly 159 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a C6 3-speed automatic transmission. Despite weighing close to 4800 pounds its heavy-duty suspension power steering and power brakes provide the classic "float-on-a-cloud" luxury ride that Lincoln was famous for. 1979 marked the final model year for the full-size "land yacht" Mark V platform being replaced by significantly downsized coupes in 1980. The Mark V became the best-selling generation of the Mark series with over 228000 produced from 19771979. Around 6700 Bill Blass editions were built for 1979.
