Dealer's description

1966 Jaguar E-Type XKE for sale! Motorcar Classics is pleased to offer this stunning XKE presented in Silver Gray with Dark Blue interior and black hardtop and soft top. With 65,553 believed to be original miles, this E-type spent much of its life in Nashville where its first two owners resided. The original owner was Murray M. Harman, who was a famous drummer in Nashville. It is now believed to be a 5-owner car from new with its current owner residing in Wayland, Massachusetts. The paint, chrome, body and interior of this E-Type are all in exceptional condition. This Jaguar had an extensive and complete restoration done between 1998- 2003 by JD's British Cars Inc. in Nashville, TN totaling $61,903. The car was completely disassembled down to the body tub and all the mechanical components of the car were disassembled, inspected and rebuilt as necessary. The engine was completely rebuilt and the crankshaft was polished and installed with standard bearings. The block was bored to .020 and new stock compression pistons were installed with new small end bushes. The connecting rod bolts were changed to the later XJ6 style and a new oil pump was fitted along with upper and lower timing chains, guides, dampers and tensioner. A big valve head was installed with high performance camshafts. The exhaust manifolds were porcelainized and a Bell stainless steel exhaust system was installed. The carburetors were also rebuilt along with other significant work. Receipts for most if not all of the service work and restoration come with this car as well. This Jaguar had roughly 47,000 miles when the restoration was completed. This E-type comes with the rare and original hard top, original convertible top boot, original manufacturer's warranty card dated 4-28-66, original operating maintenance and service handbook, original registration of ownership, significant paperwork including restoration receipts, service records, photos of before and after restoration and additional provenance. This Jaguar is now ready for its next caretaker and enthusiast! Chassis #1E-12288 / Engine #7E7384-9 / Body #4E3726 / Gearbox #EJ646
