Dealer's description
This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera cabriolet was previously sold on BaT in September 2021 before being delivered to Gunther Werks and modified to their Speedster specification. As one of 25 examples, the car was stripped of its convertible top, side windows, and windshield prior to receiving chassis reinforcements, a number of carbon-fiber body panels, a shortened windscreen, a Speedster-style tonneau cover, and a repaint in Pearl Green metallic. Power is provided by a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0L flat-six with MoTeC engine management linked with a Getrag G50 six-speed manual transmission with custom gear ratios and a locking limited-slip differential. It rides on staggered 18? Turbo Twist-style wheels and is further equipped with Brembo GTR brakes, JRZ electronic adaptive suspension, a front axle lift system, aluminum door handles, LED lighting, a ducktail rear spoiler, Inconel 935-style exhaust outlets, and contrasting black side stripes with yellow lettering. Inside, the carbon-fiber bucket seats are upholstered in black leather and Alcantara with yellow leather accents, and they are accompanied by exposed carbon-fiber trim, automatic climate control, and a Porsche Classic stereo. Mileage now shown as 21 miles since its completion, this is an investment grade vehicle for serious collectors only. Based in Huntington Beach, California, Gunther Werks was founded by Peter Nam, CEO of carbon-fiber parts manufacturer Vorsteiner, and began customizing 993-series 911s in the spirit of the GT3 variant that appeared later in Porsches history. Each cabriolet is stripped to its steel unibody, which is outfitted with carbon-fiber body panels, including a revised hood, widened front and rear fenders, bumpers, and side skirts. An integrated roll cage and hoops are added to provide support for the Speedster-style tonneau cover, and the carbon-fiber shortened windscreen frame and cowl incorporate aluminum reinforcements. This example is finished in custom Pearl Green metallic with contrasting matte black side stripes and yellow Porsche lettering. A carbon-fiber ducktail spoiler with a ram air scoop is fitted out back, and further exterior details include bi-LED Black Edition headlights with milled aluminum housings as well as LED taillights and turn signals, honeycomb mesh grille inserts, body-color mirror caps, exposed carbon-fiber trim, and aluminum door handles. Paint protection film has been applied to the body, and the car is not equipped with a convertible top or side windows. The Gunther Werks build included widening the front track and strengthening the chassis with rear bracing and stiffened sills. The car rides on custom two-piece Turbo Twist-style 18? center-lock wheels with satin gunmetal centers and titanium fasteners. They are mounted with 295/30 front and 335/30 rear Continental ExtremeContact Sport O2 tires. Stopping power is provided by black-painted Brembo GTR six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers over two-piece slotted and ventilated rotors with braided lines. Suspension comprises electronically-adaptive JRZ coilovers with remote reservoirs, custom control arms, lightweight uprights, and uprated anti-roll bars. The car is equipped with a hydraulic front lift system. The air-cooled flat-six was built by Rothsport Racing of Sherwood, Oregon, to a displacement of 4.0 liters with Mahle pistons, a billet crankshaft, and forged connecting rods. Coil-on-plug ignition and a MoTeC engine management system with custom tuning are installed, while induction is through individual throttle bodies on a GT3-style intake plenum. Output was rated by Gunther Werks at 430 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The lightweight titanium exhaust system incorporates equal-length stainless steel headers and Inconel 935-style outlets. The front trunk is trimmed in exposed carbon-fiber and black pleated upholstery. Gunther Werks tools, literature, milled aluminum keys, and a battery charger are included in the sale.
