Dealer's description
Frame-Off Restored Series 1 E-Type 4.2L I6 5-speed /// By the mid-1960s, the Jaguar E-Type had already established itself as one of the most visually striking and technically advanced sports cars of its era, and the 1966 model year represents a high point of the Series I run, blending the purity of the original design with the added torque and drivability of the 4.2L inline-six. Finished in Carmen Red over a black leather interior, this E-Type Roadster was meticulously restored by marque specialists at Catz Automotive in Youngstown, Ohio, with the body stripped to bare metal, mounted on a rotisserie, and carefully metal-finished to preserve straight, factory-correct contours. The iconic covered headlights remain in place, giving the car its famously smooth, uninterrupted lines that define the Series I, while triple-plated brightwork and chrome wire wheels wrapped in Coker redline tires complete the period-correct presentation. Power comes from a 4.2L inline-six, rebuilt to factory specifications during the restoration, paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission developed by XKs Unlimited that provides smoother shifting and an overdrive fifth gear for improved real-world drivability. Jaguar's independent rear suspension with a 3.54 gear ratio and limited-slip differential preserves the balanced ride and handling for which the E-Type is known, while the restored black leather interior, refurbished trim and instrumentation, properly fitted Hartz canvas top, and well-finished trunk reflect the same level of care throughout. Beautifully sorted and genuinely engaging to drive, this 1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster presents as a refined, investment-grade example of one of the most important sports cars ever built.
