The 996 Turbo S was the last ever Turbo S with a 6-speed manual gearbox. All future Turbo S cars were built with PDK transmission. This was also the last Turbo S with the legendary 'Mezger motor.' Mezger engines are phenomenal and share the same DNA as the GT1.There were approximately 963 Turbo S cabriolets built for the 996 platform. The car was upgraded to a RUF RTurbo S on March 28, 2006 by RUF Auto Centre in Dallas (now known as RAC Performance).
