The Ford Mustang Boss Laguna Seca 302 was specifically designed for those who loved the racetrack and did not treasure creature comforts that much. Ford credited the new versions with extra body stiffness, a firmer chassis setup, and an aerodynamics package, which was carried over from the Ford Racing Boss 302R racing car. Ford chose the Laguna Seca as part of the name of this version because that is the racetrack where the Mustang Boss 302 won the Trans-Am season in 1970. Also at the rear, Ford mounted a Torsen helical limited-slip differential. Huge cooling ducts for the front brakes and a chassis stiffening redcross X-brace instead of the rear seats, plus transmission oil cooler scoops, were on the list of the mechanical mods. Ford produced 750 Laguna Seca units, all built at the Flat Rock plant in Michigan. This car was loud. Literally and figuratively, both.
