The fourth generation to wear the name, the 1961 Continental became an icon of sixties style and luxury because of its timeless design and exceptional engineering. Initially available as a sedan or four-door convertible, the range was expanded with a coach-built executive limousine in 1964 and, for its second 'major' styling update, a coupe in 1966. Naturally, the Continental offered luxury on par with its rivals from Cadillac and Chrysler (Imperial), with automatic climate control, full leather interiors, and 8-track tape players on offer. Of course, some of the most notable Continentals of this period are the limousines. Much like Chrysler with their Imperials, Ford contracted an outside specialist to convert standard Continental sedans into special-ordered limousines - in this case, Lehmann-Peterson of Chicago. Starting with the 1964 model year through the end of their contract in 1970, Lehmann-Peterson built fewer than 500 limousines, each destined for a VIP in government, business, or celebrity circles, with buyers including Jerry Lewis, Jackie Gleason, Ronald Reagan, Robert Kennedy, Nelson Rockefeller, and Elvis Presley. Each was outfitted with some of the finest materials and amenities available and cut an imposing figure wherever they go. The incredible 1967 Lincoln Continental Executive Limousine by Lehmann-Peterson featured here is finished in stunning Black Satin over a Black leather interior in the front and Beige cloth to the rear. This exquisite motorcar was specially ordered for August Busch II of Anheuser-Busch and is among one of only nine known to remain today. Naturally, the car was outfitted with numerous optional amenities including air conditioning, auto-dimming headlamps, and a cassette player. This investment-grade example was just released from a world-class collection and is now ready for its next caretaker. I personally that the investment potential of this rare motorcar will grow beyond your imagination because of its incredible provenance and exceptional condition. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the history and investment potential of this iconic American classic!
