Dealer's description

The Hummer H1 was a civilian version of the military AM General Humvee. Originally, AM General had no intention of selling the Humvee for civilian use, but after a campaign led by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the H1 was introduced for the 1992 model year. The Hummer H1 featured much of the rugged nature of the Humvee but featured a raft of upgrades and changes to increase almost non-existent passenger comfort. The H1 was sold in various body styles, including open top, SUV, hardtop, and pickup, and was fitted with a range of V8 engines. Production of the Hummer H1 ended in 2006. Altogether, a total of 11,815 civilian-spec H1s were built between 1992 and 2006 at the AM General plant in Mishawaka, Indiana.
