Mid-State Body Co. Inc of Waterloo NY built wooden bodies from 1932-1957. In 1939 General Motors started offering these bodies on some of their vehicles. Only TWO Transporter Model 16 Passenger bodies were produced for the 1954 Chevrolet 4400 Model. This vehicle measures 23 feet long and 7 feet tall. This was the largest body offered. It has 5 rows of passenger seating. The original body plate with serial numbers remains! From the mostly original wood to the engine drive-train interior body sheet metal frame chassis etc. no expense was spared in restoring this vehicle to its better than original condition. This particular vehicle was built for the Adirondack Lodge of New York to transport guests from the train station to the lodge. Second and third owners were collectors as listed in the documentations. Truly the king of all Woodies.
