Dealer's description
1968 Intermeccanica Torino Convertible for sale! Presented in striking red with a black interior and matching black convertible top, this 1968 Intermeccanica Torino Convertible represents a rare and beautifully finished example of Italian design mated with American performance. Showing only 12,543 miles and coming from one-family ownership, this Torino has an exceptional provenance. We acquired the car as a near-complete restoration from the family of its original owner and completed the restoration to a high standard in our shop, preserving both authenticity and craftsmanship throughout. The Intermeccanica Torino stands as one of the most distinctive Italian-American collaborations of the 1960s, combining European styling and hand-built quality with proven Ford performance. Founded in Turin, Italy, by Frank Reisner, Intermeccanica gained a reputation for bespoke, limited-production sports cars with elegant lines and engaging dynamics. The Torinooriginally introduced as the Griffith and later rebrandeddebuted in 1966 at the New York Auto Show, where it was celebrated for its fresh design and balanced power-to-weight performance. When the Griffith company encountered financial issues, Reisner refined and reintroduced the concept under his own marque as the Torino, creating a car that has since become a prized collectible among enthusiasts. This example embodies the spirit of that era, featuring a hand-assembled steel body over a robust chassis and powered by its original 289 cubic-inch Hi-Po V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Every detail reflects the boutique nature of its productionfrom the finely fitted bodywork to the precision of its interior appointments. With only 12,543 believed-original miles, a known ownership history, and careful restoration completing its story, this Torino is a fitting tribute to Intermeccanica?s legacy of blending Italian artistry with American muscle.
