Introduced only one season prior, the GTX was now a refined premium design featuring performance driveline parts, unique styling cues and a stellar street-light reputation. It benefited from the new reworking of the marques B-body platform body, which had blossomed into a maturity, matching the age of the muscle-car movement. The engine design was now denoted on special hood trim, with the letters GTX centered on the grille, lower rocker areas and unique cast red-trim rear panel. Those facts do not make this a commonplace vehicle, however, and only 36 buyers opted to fit the ultimate Chrysler engine, the Hemi, into this ultimate convertible platform.
