It retains the weird split front lighting situation, with the headlights mounted lower in the front fascia and the LED running lights sitting higher up. The 2024 model switched to an LED light bar instead of individual units, giving it almost futuristic look. ## Powertrain The 2024 Kona EV comes with a single electric motor producing 133 horsepower by default. Hyundai offers a more-powerful 201-horsepower version, but both get 188 pound-feet of torque. The range adds up to 197 miles in the base powertrain configuration and 260 miles with the more-powerful setup. There should be no expectation of thrilling performance with either setup, as the Kona’s acceleration is leisurely, no matter how it’s configured. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes around 43 minutes on a Level 3 fast charger and up to six hours on a Level 2 charger. ## Interior Hyundai gave the Kona’s interior a significant glow-up for 2024. The materials quality is better and the design is more appealing, and Hyundai retained the car’s excellent interior space. The gear selector and other controls have been moved to the steering column and center stack, clearing the console for storage space. Two enormous cupholders and a large storage cubby now occupy the center console, and the Kona’s door pockets offer additional large storage spaces. ## Technology The 2024 Kona Electric gets dual 12.3-inch displays, including a configurable digital gauge cluster and a large center touchscreen. Hyundai’s infotainment software is simple and easy to understand, making it less distracting to use while driving. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Bluetooth, SiriusXM, HD radio, and more. ## Safety Hyundai gives every 2024 Kona a full suite of advanced driver aids, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, parking-distance warnings, forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure alerts, and more. The 2024 Kona hasn’t been tested yet, but it will likely improve on its predecessor’s mixed results. ## Pricing The base 2024 Kona EV SE starts at $33,550. Stepping up to the mid-range SEL trim brings the price to $37,300, and the top Limited model starts at $41,550. All trims see a $1,335 destination charge.
