About 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
Chrysler's Pacifica Hybrid, a plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) minivan, gets several updates for 2020. It competes with other minivans like the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey. Aside from a new honeycomb grille pattern and a Ceramic Grey paint color, the Pacifica Hybrid looks the same as it did last year. The Pacifica Hybrid seats seven people, and while it loses the second-row Stow ‘n' Go captain’s chairs, it gains traditional captain’s chairs that are wider and more comfortable. If you want to expand cargo capacity from 87.5 cubic feet behind the second row to the maximum of 140.5 cu. ft, you’ll need to remove them from the van, just like with a Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna. Space behind the third-row seat measures 33.5 cu. ft. The Pacifica Hybrid comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes a combined 260 horsepower and is powered by a dual-motor electric variable transmission. In addition to the 32 miles of estimated electric driving range, the Pacifica Hybrid can go about 500 miles between stops at the gas station. In fact, the EPA says that when you drive it like a gas-electric hybrid, it should return 30 mpg combined. Recharging takes about two hours if you use a 240-volt charging station. Plug the Pacifica Hybrid into a standard household wall outlet, and it takes about 14 hours. For 2020, the Pacifica Hybrid is available in Touring, Touring L, and Limited trim levels. Each adds more standard equipment compared to the 2019 model. Standard equipment for the Pacifica Hybrid Touring includes triple-zone climate control, cloth seats, and an 8-way power driver’s seat. This year, Touring trim adds a standard universal garage door opener and second-row window sunshades. Upgrade to Touring L trim, and the Pacifica Hybrid is equipped with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Handy grocery bag hooks on the front seatbacks are a useful detail of the Pacifica Hybrid Touring L. Choose the Pacifica Hybrid Limited for premium leather, an 8-way power front passenger’s seat, ventilated front seats, a Super Console with plenty of storage, and a 20-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system. For 2020, the Limited adds one-touch second-row power windows. Every 2020 Pacifica Hybrid has a standard infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Touring L trim is available with a 13-speaker Alpine audio system upgrade and a navigation system. In addition to standard navigation and a premium surround sound system, the Pacifica Hybrid Limited includes a Uconnect Theater back-seat entertainment system. Compatible with DVD and Blu-Ray discs and offering wireless content streaming capability, this setup includes USB data ports, HDMI input jacks, wireless headphones, and a 115-volt power outlet. A triple-pane panoramic sunroof is also available as an option for the Limited trim. A new Red S Appearance Package is offered for Limited trim. You can identify it by special black and red exterior finishes, red interior leather with gray stitching, metallic interior trim, and a full list of equipment. The optional Advanced SafetyTec Package is reserved for the Limited trim. It contains important features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. A semi-automated ParkSense parking-assist system is also a part of this package, as well as a surround-view camera. Continuing on the technology front, blind-spot monitoring and rear parking-assist sensors come standard on the Pacifica Hybrid. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have not crash-tested the Pacifica Hybrid. Factor in substantially better fuel economy at no cost to driving performance, passenger room, or cargo space, and the question isn’t whether you should buy a 2020 Pacifica Hybrid. The question is: Why wouldn’t you?
